Instructors:

  • Grand Master Bill McCloud — Head Instructor at MAUSA Health & Fitness Center. He now holds Master and Professor Ranks in Sanuces-Ryu (10th degree), Kumite-Ryu Ju-Jitsu (7th degree), Vee-Jitsu Ryu/Vee Jitsu Te systems (4th degree) and Shodan rank in Aikido. The other arts that he has studied are Seven Star Mantis, Southern Mantis, as well as some other styles of Kung-Fu under Sijo Mutakkabir;
  • Professor Roland Stephens — He began his mProfessor Roland Stephensartial arts training in 1973 under Sensei Walter Hallet of the Diamond Mind Dojo in Brooklyn, NY. He is the senior student of multiple Black Belt Hall of Fame member Grandmaster Bill McCloud and holds a 7th Degree Blackbelt in Vee Jitsu Ryu/Vee Jitsu Te Jujitsu, Sanuces Ryu Jujitsu and Kumite Ryu Jujitsu;
  • Shihan Damian McCleod — Damian McCleod began his training in 1993 at When Worlds Collide dojo in Brooklyn. He is a senior student of Grandmaster Bill McCloud, one of Doctor Moses Powell’s first generation students and multiple Black Belt Hall of Fame member. His rank is Roku Dan (6th Degree Blackbelt) in Vee Jitsu Ryu/Vee Jitsu Te Jujitsu, Sanuces Ryu Jujitsu and Kumite Ryu Jujitsu. Damian is currently pursuing his master’s degree in acupuncture at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in NY;
  • Shihan Reggie Ayers — He is a senior black belt instructor at MAUSA Health & Fitness Center. Under Grand Master Bill Mcloud, he was introduced to the system of Sanuces-Ryu Ju-Jitsu by Shihan Forever McNally whom he grew up with In Red Hook. Not only was he able to train under Master McCloud, he also had the opportunity to train with Grand Master Anthony Muhammad and Soke “LiL” John Davis. Reggie also practices Yoga, which complements his ju-jitsu training. Reggie is graduate in Massage Therapy at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine;
  • Sensei Ron Skinner — Sensei Ron earned a B.B.A in Accounting from Iona College in Westchester New York. Ron eventually returned to train in Urban Contemporary Jujitsu under Grand Master Bill for the past 12 years. As an instructor, Sensei Ron varies his teaching approach to keep it exciting while focusing on the fundamentals;
  • Hector Gonzalez — Once Hector received his purple belt he began to teach classes in Brooklyn NY. He became extremely dedicated to the Gentle Art and was able to achieve his Black Belt in July of 2009. He has been training for approximately 12 years and continues to train at the Renzo Gracie Academy, NYC.

Karate and Ju-Jitsu

Children’s Jitsu — our children’s classes are a unique integration of Karate and Ju-Jitsu.

A typical hour-long class begins and ends with a bow to the teacher. After a warm-up, students practice basic skills, which include kicks, punches, blocks and rolling. Each requires concentration and strict attention.

Muay Thai

Instructor — Gerry Pinzon. He is a Muay Thai/Self Defense instructor with over 20 years of experience. For the past 15 years, he has worked at the Reebok Sports Club in New York where he has trained men, women and children on how to use Martial Arts as a vehicle for self-improvement. Gerry has competed as an amateur Thai Boxer, winning the title of Champion for the Northeast region. He is certified as an MMA strength and conditioning coach by the National College of Exercise Professionals, and holds a certification as a Fitness Instructor from the NYU School of Continuing Education.

Yoga

In our Hatha Yoga classes, we focus on traditional breathing and physical exercises, relaxation and some meditation.

Instructor — Mila Fontana. He discovered yoga in college when she was 20 years old. Mila completed her 200-hour teacher training at Sacred Sounds Yoga (Yoga Alliance Certified Studio), and is grateful to all the teachers that have inspired and brought her into this journey.
