Hollywood Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a part of the Paragon BJJ association whose origins trace back to Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, Brazil. Our team has been a monster on the tournament circuit, winning many team titles and producing the absolute best American Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioners to date. Hollywood Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has been the flagship Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy in Los Angeles for over eleven years, not only because of our unparalleled championship lineage, but also because of our first class facility, location, instruction, and attention to detail.

We are located at Sunset Galleria (corner of N La Brea and W Sunset Blvd.), 2nd floor, in the end of the corridor.

Instructors:

  • Brian Herskowitz is a 4th Dan black belt in judo. He began competing at the age of 6 and at 8 years of age one the Texas state judo championship. Brian continued to win national and international competitions as a junior competitor, racking up an impressive 11 national titles from various organizations. As an adult he continued his winning ways including medals in the U.S. Collegiate championships, the U.S. Olympic festival, the U.S. Open championships, the world Maccabiah games where he was a dual silver medalist. After studying in Japan for a year, Brian returned to the U.S. and was a finalist in the 1980 Olympic trials. After a lengthy hiatus Brian returned to competition and has won the U.S. Masters 2004-2007, 2009 and 2012, and World Masters 2005 and 2009. Brian started training in Brazillian Jiu Jitsu. As a blue belt he has won the Pan American championships in the senior division, and taken a silver in the World Championships. He also holds a first degree black belt in Sorenji Kenpo;
  • Rodrigo Antunes — In 2012 Rodrigo Antunes received his 4th degree in BJJ from Grand Master João Alberto Barreto, a man who also had great influence in Rodrigo’s life as a martial artist. In 2016, Gokor Chivychian and Gene LeBell promoted Rodrigo to the rank of Black Belt in their Grappling System;
  • Sean Patrick Flanery — A few of Flanery’s tournament highlights include: 2003 Pan Am Champion, 2003 American Nationals Champion, 2002 1st Annual Inland Empire Champion;
  • Brent Burninston — Brent accumulated extensive training in a variety of disciplines – including the arts of Judo, Karate, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Western Boxing and he notably holds black belt’s in both (USA) Combat JuJitsu, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (2nd degree);
  • Tim Davis — Currently a brown belt in BJJ, he teaches children’s classes, with an emphasis on self-defense and fundamentals, and mostly eschewing modern tournament-style techniques, patterning his game after Professors Flanery and Akins, and inspired and influenced by their teacher, the great Rickson Gracie.
