Marie-Jose Blom specializes in deep core strengthening, pelvic work, and work for the spine. She is widely known for her work in Conditioning Techniques for dance and dance injuries, as well as directing the Advances in Pilates Technique, an internationally acclaimed professional teacher’s training program established in 1991. As a faculty member at Southern CA Loyola Marymount University she taught anatomy/kinesiology and physiology for the Department of Dance for which she received the 2006 spotlight award. Marie-Jose has established programs at multiple facilities internationally, and most notably in Tokyo, Japan at Studio Natural Flow. Since 2007, this studio has offered the full LBDC Teachers Training Curriculum.

Before joining a group class, new clients are required to take a minimum of one private session so we can assess your readiness. At Westwood Pilates we highly recommend that new clients take at least one private session to ensure safety and proper use of the Pilates equipment and to learn the basic principles of the method before joining a group class.
Instructors:
Asayo Yi — Asayo discovered Pilates when she decided to return to classical ballet upon graduating from University. Excited about this new discovery of movement and body awareness, she studied with Marie-Jose Blom at Long Beach Dance Conditioning and became a certified Pilates Instructor;
Ali Bragard — Allison has studied yoga, massage and Pilates over the past twenty-five years and she is passionate about how we can truly transform our bodies and our lives through these disciplines. In 2001 she took her first Pilates class. Since then she studied classical Pilates intensely and completed, in 2004, her Comprehensive Pilates Training through Power Pilates in Los Angeles;
Kiki D Amanno — She discovered Pilates while pursuing her Bachelor’s degree at UCLA and working as a professional dancer. After a back injury and experiencing profound benefits from her Pilates practice, she received her Pilates training through Long Beach Dance Conditioning and the Romana’s True Pilates Program. She is a PMA® Certified Pilates Teacher.

Movement Pilates follows the original teachings of Joseph Pilates in which he created a unique exercise system emphasizing concentration and control with the integration of flexibility, strength, precision, breath, flow of movement, and awareness between the body and the mind.
All of the Garland Studio instructors are Certified in Romana's Pilates.
The Instructors are also assisted by Apprentices, who are there to add support. Each of the Instructors teaches at all levels from Beginner to Advanced and is experienced in dealing with rehabilitation, problems associated with aging, pregnancy and peak performance.

One-on-one sessions and semi-privates allow clients to receive special focused work to achieve their individual goals. Another great plus to a one-on-one session is that you will be able to use all of the Pilates apparatuses including the Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, mat and a variety of other small apparatus for a challenging and varied workout.

Group Reformer Classes:
Private Classes — We carefully design a personalized Pilates routine based on a Health and Fitness Evaluation conducted at the initial session. Working one-on-one with the same instructor each week, your routine is updated and varied as your fitness needs change. Many of our clients build strong rapport with their trainers and find the supportive relationship invaluable in achieving their goals. Private sessions are 55 minutes in length and made by appointment.
Duo Sessions — You exercise side by side with a partner. Though your session is shared, your routine is tailored to your needs and you are given individualized attention. Either you bring your own partner or, in some cases, we are able to partner up clients. Duos are 55 minutes in length and scheduled by appointment.

Jason Goldberg — Jason is a native of West Hollywood and has always been a healer. Due to his sedentary desk job, he was inspired to take Pilates. It not only changed his body but his life, having left corporate America in 2014 to begin Pilates training. Jason is Polestar Certified, classic Pilates trained, with a special focus on rehabilitation and healing the body through movement;
Tomono McNamara — Tomono discovered Pilates in 2008 after relocating to Los Angeles from Japan. Previously, she worked as a fitness and dance instructor for close to a decade in Japan. She received comprehensive teacher's training certifications from Body Art and Science International in January 2009;
Brittany Worlinsky — Brittany is certified in the Classical style of Pilates from the Pilates Technique Certification Program with Jill Cassady. Brittany has taken specialized classes using the Pilates chair and reformer. In addition she has participated in workshops on lower body injuries, Pilates mat, and the power of touch;
Lee McCarthy — Lee, a pilates instructor for 30 years. As a former gymnast and dancer, Lee recognized the many benefits of the pilates method. She has studied with Ron Fletcher and worked extensively in movement rehab. Lee's influences include master instructors such as Eva Nemeth, Ron Fletcher, Julie Horvath, and Finis Jhung Ballet;
Lucia Gervay — Lucia is a native of Brazil, where she had been working for many years as a Director and Coordinator of a prestigious health club. There she developed an effective weight loss-program combining Land-Based & Aquatic-Based Training exercises. Lucia is Pilates certified by Equinox and BASI Pilates.
