All of Foxy and Fierce Women’s Kickboxing Bootcamp classes are one hour and each class includes 25 to 30 minutes of strength training using free weights and other equipment and 25-30minutes of real Muay Thai (kickboxing) conditioning drills. Shadow boxing, hand mitt, kicking pads, and heavy bags are incorporated into every class. It is encourage to attend 5 days a week to get a proper full body workout with out over-training your muscles and to continually progress your kickboxing techniques (see below for weekly schedule). Instructors will vary the workouts from week to week to continually “shock” the body to lose weight and build muscle. We like it because it keeps our clients engaged and they never got bored of the same workout so every class feels new and exciting.

In order to accommodate both beginner and advanced clients in one class exercises and drills are modified to the clients specific needs so no matter what your fitness level you are always pushed, challenged, and continually learning.

The CBTA USA provides great lectures and hands-on corrections for practitioners in order to deliver the best teaching quality. This is why no drop-ins are allowed here at the academy.

Most of our practitioners have previous experiences in modernized Taijiquan or Yoga. This is the academy that offers the same standard and practical methods as taught in classical Chen Family Taijiquan and yoga lineage.

Teachers:

  • Pamela Hom is a Primary teacher certified in 2014. Hom holds an authorized teacher of 'Tai Chi for Arthritis' by Dr. Paul Lam. She currently teaches classical Chen Family Taijiquan in Palm Springs in CA;
  • Haeyoung Kim is a Primary teacher certified in 2014. She used to practice Yang Style Taijiquan. Kim teaches Chen Village Primary on Thursday at CBTA USA. She is also a certified Ekatala Yoga teacher;
  • Aaron Hong is a Primary teacher certified in 2014. Hong practices a Korean herbalist and acupuncturist. He also studies Taoism Qigong and Kendo. Currently, he teaches private lessons only;
  • Linda Asuma-Weinstein is a Primary teacher certified in 2015. She used to practice Hapkido, Yoga and Yang Style Tai Chi. Linda teaches classical Chen Family Taijiquan in Santa Monica, CA;
  • ​Christopher Wang is a Primary teacher certified in 2015. Wang was a US national gold medalist of Push-Hands (moving-step) and Old Frame First Road in 2016. Wang is also a certified Ekatala Yoga teacher. Currently, Wang teaches Chen Village Primary on Saturday at CBTA USA;
  • Austin Kim started Chen Family Taijiquan from Master Bosco Baek in 2012 and was certified a Primary teacher in 2014. Kim loves to practice martial arts and studies Oriental medicine with Chinese philosophy. Kim was a Taekwondo instructor while serving in Korean army. Currently, he is a CEO of Solomon Reality & Investment in Los Angeles;
  • Mija Park was certified a Primary teacher in 2015 and used to practice Yang Style Tai Chi. Park became a US national gold medalist of Chen Tai Chi in 2016 at age 75. Currently, she lives in Dallas, TX and has a plan to run her class there;
  • Gin Kim started Chen Family Taijiquan in 2012 under guidance of Master Bosco Baek. Kim was certified a Primary teacher in 2015 and is an enthusiast of Chen Family Taijiquan;
  • Tanya Kim naturally became interested in the mother form of Taijiquan while studying modernized Tai Chi at her graduate school. Tanya was certified a Primary teacher in 2015;
  • Hyunmi Ahn started Chen Family Taijiquan from Master Bosco Baek in 2013. In 2016, Ahn passed the Primary teacher exam under a strict supervision of Master Chen Bing and Master Bosco Baek. Ahn is a US national bronze medalist for Chen Family Taijiquan.

Classes & Programs:

  • Cyclelates workout — a new method that combines 20 minutes of spin to burn calories and 35 minutes of Pilates to stretch and strengthen muscles throughout the body to give you that skinny toned look! Designed moves for the abs and arms based on the original teachings of Joseph Pilates will be instructed on the reformer, leaving the legs, booty, and cardio burn for the bike. Courses offered include Cyclelates, Cycle Remix, and Pilates Reformer;
  • Cycle Remix — a new method combining the exciting pace of a normal cycle class with music videos and weights. The intention of these new methods is to make working out fun and exciting. Constant stimulation and upbeat music will make the workout fly without being bored or checking the clock. Each Spin bike will come with 2 pound hand weights to guarantee you are toning your upper body as well. Each cycle class is 45 minutes;
  • Open Gym — this program gives clients the opportunity to purchase independent training sessions in addition to their private/semi-private training sessions. Open Gym is available to those advanced beginners, intermediate, and advanced clients;

Class Levels:

  • Level 1 — Our Beginner classes are powerful, learning experiences in which you will literally re-discover your body, how it works, and what it can do. Level 1 are designed to give you the time and support to understand the proper alignment of yoga asanas (postures) and breathing technique;
  • Level 1-2 — This classes build on the fundamental postures introduced in Level 1 through creative and challenging sequences. Level 1-2 classes are also ideal for learning and practicing the basics of more challenging postures like arm balances, inversions, safely and effectively;
  • Level 2 — Classes are designed to expand on your strength, stamina and flexibility as you master advanced postures like inversions, arm balances, and backbends, as well as demanding sequences. Also, expect teacher to refer to postures in Sanskrit more frequently;
  • Level 2-3 — Classes presume students are familiar with intermediate yoga postures (including inversions and backbends). In these classes you will use your knowledge of postures and breathing to practice exciting, physically demanding and challenging sequences and variations. The pace of these classes is faster, you will go deeper, and your teacher will help you achieve breakthroughs in your practice and your self-awareness. We recommend you have a year of solid yoga under your mat before you join 2-3 classes;
  • Level 3 — Not for the faint of heart, Level 3 classes are geared towards advanced students, teachers and teacher training graduates. Take this class only if you have an excellent degree of fitness. Are you regularly practicing the most difficult poses? Most students at this level already have many years of serious yoga study under their belts.

Pilates Classes:

  • Group Equipment Classes — Participation in a Group Equipment class requires a private Pilates session;
  • Mat Classes — Explore Pilates with our total conditioning mat classes that are included in YogaWorks memberships. Mat classes are a great introduction pilates;
  • Private Instruction — Explore pilates with one-on-one instruction from one of our trained pilates instructors.
