We offer group tennis classes and private lessons for kids of all skill levels. From our PTR-certified coaches to our three types of courts that accompany our young players from 2.5 to 15 years old:

  • Lil' Freshmen (2.5-3 years old);
  • Freshmen (3-4 years old);
  • Sophomore (5-6 years old);
  • Junior (7-8 years old);
  • Senior (9-11 years old);
  • Teenager (12-15 years old).

A membership at Court 16 includes one child and two adults for your family to be able to learn the game together. If you have a second child you will need to purchase an additional membership for them, which comes at half the price, and for your third child membership is free.

School Programs are fully customizable to meet your needs:

  • Private, indoor facilities that are safe - and always set to 72 degrees;

  • Classes taught in small groups of no more than 5 kids: 1 instructor;

  • 4 to 5 permanent USTA-sanctioned 36' tennis courts - built at the optimal size for child athletes;

  • 1 60’ tennis court for older or advanced players;

  • Premier Court® surfacing with impact-absorbing cushioning in Brooklyn and the first-ever LED Tennis Courts in Long Island City;

  • Court 16’s holistic teaching methodology, emphasizing teamwork, sportsmanship, technique - and a whole lot of fun;

  • Babolat tennis racquets and Babolat tennis balls.

Cumps:

  • Summer Tennis Camp — 12 Weeks of Tennis Camps for Kids ages 4-10 (running from June 10th through August 30th at court 16 BK and court 16 LIC);
  • Tennis Day Camps — On every school break and holidays. Designed for kids ages 4 through 10 and open to non-members, tennis day camps at Court 16 are designed for kids to build confidence through tennis games in small groups and off-court activities that foster social fluency.

Adult Tennis (60-minute group classes):

  • Adult Beginner Class (USTA: 1.0 to 2.0) — teaches the fundamentals of the game, including developing technically sound forehands, backhands, volleys and serves;
  • Adult Intermediate Class (USTA: 2.0 and 3.0) — helps to develop more advanced strokes and work on new components of the strokes that are already familiar;
  • Adult Advanced Class (USTA: 3.0 and above) — teaches the most enhanced level of technical refinement as well as tactics for singles and doubles matches.

  • Tiger J TKD Black Belt Club (BBC) is a three year program for students who are dedicated to reaching their goal of Black Belt (1st Dan Degree). In addition to everything they learn from the Discovery Club Program, Black Belt Club members may attend Black Belt Club classes where they can continue their training with extra-curriculars. BBC includes: Nunchuck, Board Breaking, Sparring and Self-defense;
  • Tiger J TKD Discovery Club is an one year introduction program for beginning students through their goal of green belt;

Classes:

  • Weightlifting Foundations at JDI Barbell focuses on the fundamentals of (Olympic) weightlifting technique. This course will teach the basics of the snatch and the clean and jerk. Each class includes guided warm-up, the programmed workout which will include substantial hands-on technique work along with accessory strength work. This class is ideal for beginners;
  • The JDI Barbell Weightlifting Team is intended for athletes looking to make a commitment to train in a focused, competitive environment. Weightlifting Team classes are programmed with competition-level performance in mind. Each session is proctored by our head coach and will follow that day’s specific program. This class is perfect for athletes with 6+ months’ experience.

Head Coach — Jesse Irizarry. He is a former D1 Strength and Conditioning Coach and was mentored by Bill Gillespie and Dave Williams, two of the few CSCCa master strength coaches. He has close to ten years experience coaching and has competed in both Olympic Weightlifting and Powerlifting.

Strength Groundwork — This course will teach proper execution of the squat, deadlift, and press (bench and overhead). Over the duration of the 8-week course we’ll push your capacity to lift more than ever before. Each class includes guided warm-up, the programmed workout, which will include substantial hands-on technique work along with accessory strength work. This class is ideal for those who are new to weight training.

Privat Programs:

  • Custom Programming provides a flexible option for athletes who are unable to fit our group classes into their schedule or prefer an approach tailored exclusively to them. Custom Programming is perfect for athletes with an inconsistent schedule, and/or anyone wishing to supplement strength training into their current regiment. As this program is specially designed to your needs, you decide on the number of training days per week, duration of sessions and your overall focus. In addition, each month you’ll meet with one of our coaches for a one-on-one session to go over your progress and technique;
  • A one-on-one session is the perfect setting to focus on your technique and weaknesses at the convenience of your schedule. Sessions are available with any of our coaches;
  • Remote Coaching — You can now join us remotely via the JDI Barbell Online Weightroom. As a remote JDI Barbell Athlete, you’ll have access to our latest training programs and our online remote-coaching forum where you can submit your training videos for review by our coaches and mix and mingle with other members of the team.

  • Laura Khoudari — She is a powerlifter, National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer specializing in trauma-informed training, and serves on the advisory board of the Women's Strength Coalition. She is the Assistant Coach for the Strength Groundwork program;
  • Nancy Brown — She is a powerlifter, former bikini competitor and a Certified Personal Trainer with the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Nancy runs the Silent Strength program at JDI.
