In our Muay Thai classes, proper traditional technique and active footwork is always emphasized over brute strength. Every class is safe, fun and different.
Wendy Lau — She is a physician (ER doc) who started training Muay Thai in medical school in 2007 for fitness and stress relief but ended up loving it so much that she started competing. She still trains with the fight team regularly and goes on the Chok Sabai Thailand trip every year. She is also a meditation and yoga teacher and currently teaches public yoga and meditation classes and a fight-team-only meditation class at Chok Sabai;
Lev Borukhov — Lev teaches Work & Play and is an assistant Muay Thai coach.

Sebastian Guerriero — Sebastian is a black belt under Josh Griffiths (Clockwork BJJ). He is a very experienced teacher having taught as an instructor at Clockwork BJJ for many years.

Lev Borukhov — Lev teaches Work & Play and is an assistant Muay Thai coach. He is a physical therapist with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from New York Institute of Technology. He started Movement Minded Physical Therapy with the mission to spend more time with his patients by providing full one-hour one-on-one sessions — without the time constraints of a big office practice.
We provide a large selection of training equipment for boxing and kickboxing, including heavy bags, speed bags, double end bags, and have two regulation size boxing rings.

Classes are 90 minutes long, and consist of warmup exercises, uchikomi (standing throwing drills), newaza uchikomi (groundfighting drills), timed newaza randori (groundfighting sparring with different partners), and timed tachiwaza randori (standing sparring with different partners).
Depending on your experience, you will be paired up with a senior-ranking member who will introduce you to the various components of the class and basic techniques. You will have personal attention for the first several months and you will set your own pace of learning with thoughtful and safe guidance to help you.
Bruce Lee named the cutting edge martial art training process he developed "Jeet Kune Do". This training process forms the foundation of what we teach at NY Martial Arts Academy.
The technical aspect of the classes includes elements from muay thai, boxing, jiujitsu and kickboxing. Elbows and knees are prevalent in muay thai but are also a part of Jeet Kune Do. Bruce Lee studied boxing and fencing when developing his art. We borrow certain elements from jiujitsu when addressing self defense situations on the ground.

Our individualized "Strength & Conditioning" program initially focuses on general physical fitness and, in time, our students are introduced to martial art specific physical training, which will enhance those attributes necessary for our students to perform Jeet Kune Do at a much higher level.
In our facility the three most fundamental aspects of MMA fighting are taught individually as well as in an MMA context. We offer group classes in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (No-Gi), takedowns & wrestling, and a complete striking program.
