Master Carolyn Campora and her black belts will personally guide you. In your free class, you will learn the opening the Nabi Su Kung Fu form, basic kicks, punches, exercises and stepping. You will participate in the group class, get private instruction, and watch more advanced students do their forms.

Our Children's Kung Fu Classes are small, semi-private, and the children are taught the same Kung Fu style that is taught in our adult classes.

Kung Fu Weapons

The first weapons that the student meets at Nabi Su are the escrima sticks. We practice these as a practical, light, short – 26 to 28 inches – and relatively simple self-defense tool. 

It is not until brown belt level that the next weapon is introduced. The Bo is a 6-foot staff taught via the form called Dragon's Tail, a form that is complex and beautiful.

For those who are studying Tai Chi, which includes all who have achieved the level of Black Belt in Kung Fu, weapons begin with the saber, followed by the double-edged sword, then the fan. Spear forms from Hung Gar and Cho Li Fut, Butterfly Knives, Lightning Saber and the 2 person Saber/Spear form are taught to advanced practitioners

The most advanced students practice Jodo, the art of wooden staff, jo, against long and short swords, a tradition comprising 64 forms dating back to the Samurai and attributed to Myamoto Mushashi.

  • Kung Fu (Open level) — Shaolin Kung Fu classes. No prior experience necessary. The training introduces Shaolin Martial Arts to the student. Dribbl is a New York-based instructional and recreational basketball program for kids ages 3-14.

Programs:

  • Pre-K & K — 50-minute sessions get kids comfortable on the court with a ball in their hands. PE-style games and pop music keep 'em moving and having a great time while they learn the basics;
  • 1st-3rd grades — 80-minute sessions progress to include more challenging drills, tactical plays, and half-court scrimmages;
  • 4th-7th grades — 80-minute sessions are segmented into 30 minutes of skills and drills, followed by “league” games. Balanced teams play scored, timed games with weekly standings and a play-off at the end of each season.
