Master Instructor — Michael Militano. From an early age, he demonstrated natural talent as an athlete and fighter, but after years of studying boxing, wrestling, some Karate. Jiu Jitsu, gymnastics, and various weaponry, he found his niche in Wing Chun (under the sole instruction of Grandmaster Jason Lau). After only three years of study, Grandmaster Jason Lau appointed Michael Militano to teach, and soon thereafter, to take over the school when Grandmaster Lau left New York.
Instructors as well as many students from other martial arts schools have turned to Sifu Militano's expertise to enhance their knowledge of fighting - and for good reason. His competitive students (of all levels) have won numerous tournaments when competing against advanced level martial artists. Sifu Militano has taught Wing Chun to law enforcement instructors, military personnel, children, the blind and visually impaired, and he was invited to train the U.S. National Guard.
Our Senior Instructors have all studied with our school for over 15 years. They have studied all Long Fist, Praying Mantis, Baji Chuan, PiKua Chuan, and Tai Chi Chuan, as well as weapons training.
Our Instructors have all risen up through the ranks of the Wu Tang School, and attained not only the level of black belt, but have been qualified to become lead classes, and train students in the many styles within the Wu Tang System.
Our Assistant Instructors are black belts students who have not only excelled at kung fu, but at leading and teaching other students to improve.
Our classes are taught only by skilled instructors and assistant instructors who have worked their way up through our ranks and studied several of our styles. Virtually all of the instructors teaching the children’s classes have attained the level of Black Belt and have studied over five years.

Kung-Fu classes are taught focusing on the over all development of the student. At the basic level great focus is put upon the fundamentals. In this class students will develop stances, punches, and kicks, breath control, and basic self defense techniques they can readily use in a short period of time. Students later learn to combine more advanced techniques together at will for fighting as well as various fighting styles.
Private and semi-private classes are offered, Thursday and Saturday (2 hr and 1 hr classes offered).
Hung Kuen is a graceful and powerful style of Kung Fu based on five animals: Dragon, Tiger, Leopard, Crane, and Snake.
Classes are two hours long, and are designed to provide a comprehensive approach to all aspects of Hung Kuen.
An example of a standard class structure:
Traditional stances and hand/leg techniques;
Partnered applications of hand/leg techniques;
For senior students, instruction in traditional Shaolin weapons (monkey staff, broadsword, halberd, spear, knives, etc.) becomes a key portion of the curriculum as well.
Master Karl Pettersen is an accredited Master of Hung Kuen Kung Fu, 6th Degree Black Belt, and the Head Black Belt Instructor for the club. Karl studied Hung Kuen under the auspices of Hung Kuen Shaolin Kung Fu UK through Master Ang and his team of instructors, and over time became a qualified instructor.
Class begins with a group warm-up and stretching, then moves to conditioning with kung fu basics: blocking, striking, kicking, jumping, turning, and stance work.
After warm-up, students learn forms (classical routines of Eagle Claw and northern kung fu techniques), self defense, and sparring. Weapons training plays a large role as well. Students get instruction in staff, short stick, sword, saber, three-section staff, spear, double-headed spear, kwan do (halberd), chain, hook swords, and daggers. Each weapon has a different purpose in self defense as well as in body conditioning. Higher level students focus on fighting, advanced techniques, and gymnastics.
The Northern Eagle Claw system includes 25 fist forms, more than 25 weapon forms, over 25 partner (two-men or three-men) sets and the essence of the system, the 108 locking hand techniques.
Classes are open to all ages. Current students range from 6 — 75 years of age.
We offer adult classes, WT Fit class, private lessons, and of course kids and youth classes.
All new students will be placed on a six-month probation period and must demonstrate their diligence during those first six months of training before offically being accepted. Proper attitude, diligent effort, and good attendance is a requirement in order to be accepted and remain a student.
The classes are conducted in both a formal and non-formal style, whereby the students are given directed instruction for large segments of each session, as well as time allowed for personal training at one's own pace. This can involve solo training, such as working on forms or individual skills and working with a partner on specific drills to enhance overall skills and attributes.
